I may or may not have an answer to your questions, nor is this a "if I tell you what I want to see, will you do it?" type of a deal. Nevertheless, I feel it would be beneficial to know just what it is you may be sticking around for.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but I'll try to give an answer. What always endeared me to Ocarina of Time (and made porn so desirable) was just the sense of adventure in the game. I can't put my finger on it but something about it's world and characters was always very immersive to me. I seem to remember having a crush on almost all the main "love interests" even though none of them really had any elaborate dialogue. I was also always really fascinated by the various "cultures" each time I encountered a new race. I wanted to know how these species like the Kokiri and Zora actually lived. (Of course this inspired some kinkier fantasies as well.)
ReplyDeleteSo yes, I'm excited for porn, since OoT porn is a rare commodity relative to how big of a deal the game actually was. But beyond that I'm hoping that you'll be able to capture a bit of that adventure and world building that made me find the game fascinating to begin with. I'm not expecting any kind of advanced gameplay, but I hope that this game will be able to evoke at least a little bit of that childhood feeling of adventure discovery, with a sexual twist. The "other side" to OoT that my hormone addled mind would speculate about when I first played through the game.
I might have made my expectations seem a little lofty there, but before I saw this blog and the progress you guys have already made I probably never would have dreamed that such a detailed project would ever be made to begin with. I have no doubt that you guys have the talent to make something wholly satisfying. I even really considered vying for a writer position since you guys seemed so in tune with the kind things I have been fantasizing about since OoT's release, but I don't trust myself with deadlines. I'll probably have more fun experiencing the game as a outsider anyway, and seeing what you creative people come up with.

Man, you really went above and beyond with that response. This is the type of reply I was looking for. I was worried I may have botched what I was trying to get across in my post.
DeleteI find it interesting how you brought up the lack of "elaborated dialogue". As memorable and captivating as OoT's characters were, its true they had very limited dialogue or moments where you can truly get a grasp of who that character is. Even the "hints" you could receive from Navi and Saria throughout the entire game doesn't offer much insight into their character. And obviously, minor characters like Fado are even more difficult to pinpoint. Its already proven to be a fair challenge keeping true to these heroines and a silent Link, but the last thing we want is for them to feel out of character.
Which leads me into "adventure and discovery". I'm sure there are many people out there who would disagree with us fiddling with the events of OoT, but OoT is neither a VN, or remotely sexual (aside from some very few exceptions that could be exploited). If you copy OoT, not only are you going to have to shoehorn in shipping and out of place, awkward sex scenes, you're going to make the VN predictable. You'll also end up skewing these characters to get them to do what you want, no matter which way you slice it. We would rather introduce gameplay/story elements that make those foreign events seem more natural by having Link and the heroines adapt to what's happening around them. The partner system and monster girls are just two obvious changes we're implementing that will hopefully help achieve that. With any luck, these changes will not only allow for fresh exploration/discovery, but keep things from feeling forced as well.
Its true you will probably enjoy the project more as a consumer, rather than a developer. We could use the help, so its a shame, but its good you realized ahead of time that there's a lot of real work involved and that you may not have the time for it all.

ReplyDeleteExcept the part where I think the "love interests" in OoT weren't really... elaborated on? There wasn't much in the way of dialogue with them, so you didn't really get a feel for them, like what kind of people they are. I don't think I'm good at explaining this.
I know exactly what you mean about not really having the opportunity to get a true feel for the characters. Its something I kind of touch on in my response to the anon above.

ReplyDeleteYou've probably heard me say there's plenty of time for a yaoi artist to appear far too often by now. Its pretty clear at this point that one isn't going to come to us, so we've been keeping an eye out for anyone who may be willing to lend a hand.

For Zelda/OoT I would assume. That question was definitely unclear, but by concept I meant the ideas we're subjecting OoT to. If we were working on the same ideas, just without the OoT setting and characters, would this VN still seem interesting?
Well there's only three aspects I've seen you guys "subject OoT" to. One of them being the monster girl aspect (Which I'm not crazy about), heroines having more of an impact on game play and obviously porn.

Glad you discovered that thread then, as working on certain projects, a plethora of life situations, and a few hard drive failures all but killed any potential updates on my hf account. Aside from this project, I'm just (way too meticulously) working on some FE commissions.
DeleteI thought that particular thread was pretty decent once we discovered it and joined the party. Some of the others I've seen in archives... not so much. Still, its been a real eye opener so far, and I can only improve.
I'm pretty big on incest, not to mention Ruto, so I'm definitely going to be pushing for that. I've made sure to save that thread just so I don't forget some of the ideas people brought forth because I liked them so much.
I know you are pushing to try to include some yaoi scenes, but will there be any yuri scenes as well? I'm a big fan of Zelda/Ruto, but I'll take what I can get. I understand straight sex is the main focus, but just one or two scenes would be a neat bonus.

DeleteTo be honest I have plans for a little bit of yuri between two characters we haven't really shown on the blog. Whether or not that pans out, or if they "count", is another issue.
What I kinda expected in the project is that it has that special feel in it. I cant really explain that special feel but part of it has that special gameplay or the game itself has something special in it. Also porn. Kinda hoped that malon,sheik,Impa, and Anju would appear in the game.

My favorite character is Sheik and kid Zelda, and I hope to live out my fantasy of fucking everyone in OoT, like in that french Bad Zelda doujin. Also some good puzzles and fun combat would really tie the game together. So are the artists right now really too prude to draw gayporn?
ReplyDeleteHaving a route modeled after Bad Zelda is actually something I was talking about with /f/dude, as that seemed to be his plan for LoZHQ. We'll need to make far more progress before we really consider it a possibility though. Same can be said about the number of romance-able female characters.
DeletePersonally, yaoi is just not my thing. I was thinking about sucking it up and trying my hand at it last night, but there are a few other reasons that stopped me. Drawing takes me quite a bit of time in general and I have quite a few things on my plate as it is. I would much rather try and find someone willing to do those scenes.

Well you could always do some of the scenes to get it started whenever you have free time. It might also lessen the burden for any artists later on and make it seem more appealing to enter your team and help.

It might lessen a potential artist's burden, but you're right, it certainly would make things harder on me. I was initially just the colorist, but I've ended up taking on quite a few areas of development. I would have to be drawing these on top of what I'm already doing.

DeleteThe simple answer is; I don't know. It is certainly possible, but her inclusion would be so far down the line its way too early to tell.
Fun fact: discussion about Midna's inclusion actually lost us a recruit a while back.
Just two Questions how many Characters are in (right now and will be and can you draw everyone in a gallery or something) and is the plot characters area and the rest exactly from ocarina of time or is there "Bonus Content" ?
ReplyDelete2 partners and 3 non-partner characters as of right now (that I know of) How many will there be? We're not entirely sure yet, but it'll be a few. Not sure what you mean by drawing everyone in a gallery. There will be "Bonus Content" of some sort for sure in the future but as of what it will be exactly is still up for discussion.
DeleteThis is just an idea I had and you by no means have to entertain my random request but I suddenly thought it would be really nice if there some "innocently erotic" art pieces. For example maybe there is a CG of Saria sitting talking to you and you can see her slit through the leg of her shorts. Just a few art pieces to tease the player so they're all worked up by the time they reach the sex scenes.

DeleteI don't know if anyone will see this since I barely found it today but I was born in the 90's and was at the perfect age and Ocarina of Time was my very first Zelda game. As a kid I thought a lot of the girls were pretty or cute (Malon) and once I found computer roms for 64 games in High school and OoT 3D I admit that like Anonymous I have always thought of all that was possible fantasy or pairing wise, but nothing was ever done outside of fanfiction that was any good. They made a Zelda dating sim on Newsgrounds but wasn't that good and 4chandude abandoned the Zelda Hentai Quest. It would be awesome to see this finished at some point. But I was wondering what girls would be in it or is no one being excluded? All of them in some way have an appeal to me whether it's Zelda, Malon, Saria, Anju, Impa, or even Nabooru. But like I said is anyone being excluded? Like Twinrova, the Great Fairies, etc? Anyways I can't think of what else to say so there you go ^^

DeleteIt may be like pouring salt on a wound at this point, but we weren't planning on excluding any of the major OoT heroines. However, minor characters, for example Anju, would've been dependent on how development was going and whether or not it was feasible at that time. That said, judging by Kokiri Forest, where we even ended up creating personalities for and including two "generic" kokiri girls (though they aren't shown on the blog), most, if not all, of the notable female characters would have probably been included if things had proceeded as planned.

If development for the main game had gone well and we had the time and willpower, its something that would most likely have happened in tandem with the inclusion of the minor female characters in OoT . At least, we were certainly excited about the idea. Even so far as talking over having one of them appear as an easter egg in the demo just so we could get a jump on it.
The unfortunate reality is we never really made it outside of Kokiri Forest. Our work and build went through numerous revisions and while we certainly saw a large leap in quality from when we first started, the team was steadily falling apart and things still weren't at the level we (or I) was hoping they'd be at.
I definitely thank you for the comment and interest, but I'll be straight with you. Taking everything that's happened with this project in the past couple of months into account, I would not hold your breath waiting for a true update. While I am still around, sadly things haven't changed from when I made that comatose post. Interest would need to be rekindled and a new team (or motivation from the old team) would need to happen.
Out of curiosity, how did you happen across this blog?
I was looking at comments for the game 4chandude abandoned years ago about the OoT Hentai quest that said he was working on this game. And if what you say is true about not holding my breath then while it's sad I understand.
