I am so tired right now

Put this one off far longer than I should have.

We haven't kicked the bucket, but the project is still in a rather comatose state. Some positive signs have started to crop up however, so hopefully it won't take too much longer to get back into the swing of things. That said, lately I've been devoting a lot of time into some rather unexciting tasks. This means the blog will most likely continue to move very slowly. I'm going to be working on the essentials and I don't plan on tackling another scene until everything is squared away and we finally start seeing some significant progress. I may try to post some progress updates and the like, but nothing major until we get moving again. Hang tight, with any luck we'll get through this.

  1. Nice, finally this is finished. I like how it turned out. What have you been working on lately, Ling?

    1. Glad you like it!
Been/Am working on stuff related to UI and navigation as well as ways to make the dungeon and battles more engaging. I've also got a bunch of unfinished sprites laying around, and the script is going to need some work.

  5. As annoying as Navi was half the time, I don't think she deserves this. Maybe it's just me though, not a huge fan of rape.

    1. This type of scene isn't exclusive to Navi and doesn't have anything to do with how many people found her annoying. Actually I like her, so getting Navi involved in this definitely isn't some kind of twisted revenge, I swear.

    2. Well I disagree, I totally think she deserves it.

  6. Hey! Listen! Disregard the above, Navi needs much much more like this... keep up the good work! Any idea when a demo might be available? Seeing parts of this in action would be amazing even unfinished... excited to see updates of any kind though!

    1. Not everyone exactly cares for rape so I can respect their views. But no need to worry, there will be plenty more where this came from. Though Navi probably won't be seeing another scene for a while since that's all there was for her on the blog, for now.
Its hard to judge when we might be happy enough with the build to release it as a demo and I tend to be off with my guesstimates. Its been through a good number of revisions and we're still working to improve it along with implementing new ideas.

The comments on this post sound sort of different from the ones I've been reading up till now. Wonder if some of you guys just discovered us recently.

    2. It's a pretty common hentai theme though... o_0 A terrible crime IRL of course, but so are many (dare I say most) things people enjoy in fantasy... that's what makes it fantasy. I'm actually a big fan of Navi... but TBH I'm surprised someone interested enough to comment on this site would dislike a little cartoon raep? Since that's kind of the bread and butter of any hentai game involving fighting monster girls (or being a girl and fighting monsters.)

Not sure about the others but I discovered this blog fairly recently (in the past month or two)... I usually prefer strictly lurking, but the Zelda series (especially OoT) is probably my favorite game series. And similar to Rule 43, the stronger a connection to a work/character is, the more we love to see good Rule 34 of it! I'd followed f/dude's Zelda project back in the day (and actually still have the few flashes he posted) so I was disappointed when that fell apart... and equally excited to discover some of the promising looking stuff here!

I've followed a few other game projects like this, mainly from Legend of Krystal Forums (Mario is Missing, Peach's Untold Tale comes to mind) and have some interest in independent game development myself (though not in this genre particularly)... so besides just being a fan, I'm also curious about the process/challenges of a project like yours. Personally, I've dabbled in programming, game/character/level design, art, and writing, but don't consider myself an expert in any of them yet. I know you mentioned things have been tough for the project lately... what areas do you find to be bottlenecks/most holding you up in completing a demo? What language/tools is your programmer using? Or for that matter are there any particular tools you as an artist/writer use?

Anyway, I don't have a lot of time to devote to helping a project like this, but am wishing you the best, and I'd enjoy at least getting involved with feedback/ideas, and learning from your experiences!

    3. I can understand it by relating it to how I feel about certain fetishes. Fantasy it may be, but even I avoid some things. Though I would never in a million years say they shouldn't exist, as they are simply fantasy. You're right though that this is pretty bread and butter stuff considering the subject matter. However, there will be a fair deal of consensual stuff in the future. Honestly, the inclusions of monster girls wasn't just for the sake of monster girls, but to help facilitate sex between the OoT characters. I felt having the heroines/Link deal with this type of change in their surroundings was better than trying to shoehorn sex into OoT's original setting and plot.

      Haha, true that
Yeah, there were quite a few people disappointed by what happened to lozhq. It was a really big deal for many, and for good reason.

The hardest part is definitely communication and motivation, in my opinion. The work itself isn't so bad when you know you're all working together and things are progressing. However, the moment you lose contact or people struggle to maintain interest, that can get brutal real fast. Compound that with all of us essentially being strangers who have only ever talked to each other online as well as the fact that we aren't getting a thing out of making this and it can be quite difficult to keep pressing on. There's also a lack of leadership, but maybe that's safer than having a dictator so I'm not too sure there.
Our programmer is working with python/renpy. He's quite skilled, but also rather unmotivated. Though lately he's been surprising me in a good way.
Both chrom and I use photoshop, though I much prefer SAI when drawing. I also use a few other programs for design/UI stuff. I don't really use anything for writing. We just set up a google doc file we all have access to so it can be worked on in real time with others. The writing is probably one of the tougher things for me. Its not something I'm experienced with or really care to do unfortunately. I have put a lot of time and effort into it, but I can't seem to be satisfied with it.

I look forward to it, thanks for the encouragement!
I think we're all in for a learning experience, heh

    4. Interesting stuff! This is the first Visual Novel project I've followed, I hadn't heard of renpy or SAI before (just got done looking up some info on them.) Of the 5 main areas (design, writing, art, sound, programming) I'd say writing is probably the area I'm strongest in actually. I doubt I'll have the time to be a full writer or anything for you, but I've got the game knowledge and could maybe take a look at what you've got so far and offer advice/editing... maybe even write a small amount of useful content if you care to put me in the loop. I can empathize with not being satisfied with your writing despite putting lots of time and effort into it... I enjoy working with words a lot, but found attempts at writing on a large scale to be taxing at best.

At the very least, glad to offer some encouragement! Also... curious what the cryptic good news below is about?

    5. Thanks for the offer. I'd be happy to have the help. Even if you're a bit busy any help is good help, especially with writing. If you could shoot me an email (contact us) so we can discuss what you might be up for further that'd be awesome.
This is a rather large scale project so it may be taxing, but I hope its enjoyable all the same.

As for the good news, they're almost done working on a sample build in game maker. With this we can see if its more capable/efficient than what we're working with now (renpy). It was something that was initiated during the programmer's absence, but I'm still very interested in seeing how it turns out.

Hey Ling, Lol it's been a while. but I have good news. ^-^ after checking here on friday afternoon, I felt really saddened. it depresses me to see this project on a a down low. so, I turned me depression into motivation! email me when you see this, and I may just be able to cheer ya up! :D (I would have just e-mailed you, but i feel like your fans needed a cheerful declaration. feel free to delete this comment if you so wish.)
