  1. Does this mean there will be animations?

    1. Are there any set numbers or such for how many animations there will be? (Also did you ever see the /v/ thread a while back giving critique on your young link Ling?)

    2. No, the number of scenes, animated or not, really just depends on how quickly things get finished.
I did. And I've been making tweaks and changes to the sprites throughout development. Nothing major, but I do think the Link we have now (on the right) looks better than the one before. It's like that sprite will only be used if we have an inventory scene similar to the one in OoT (where it shows what Link has equipped).

    3. His face still looks incredibly odd, and the hair as well. It also may be due to the perspective, by the right shoulder and left shoulder don't seem symmetrical in length. But yeah, that face mostly.

    4. I can see what you mean with the shoulders, but I don't have much of an issue with Link's face or hair. Then again I can be painfully oblivious to certain issues.

Is it a problem present in the other sprites as well or just Link?

    5. It's just Link it looks like. Everything else looks good (besides some maybe stiff poses and very few anatomy mistakes) and i am really fond of your coloring style.

The face just looks strangely abnormal. It might be because of how your art is very stylized that it makes it look a bit more strange in comparison to the norm. Though there is something undeniably off putting about how he looks.

I mean a good way to give you a comparison would be to actually show a reference of link and point out that switching back and forth between them to compare would give you some clarity on how much different he looks. It's really hard to actually describe "what" is wrong with it, when it's mostly how it's stylized to the point where he just looks ugly.

http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lg42dmV7nl1qfuldoo1_250.png <- It's mostly just comparing the difference.

Hopefully that gives you some insight about what i mean, and maybe it can help a bit.

    6. I can respect honesty, and your suggestions are much appreciated.
I think its most likely a fluke born from, essentially, copy/pasting Saria's facial features (the ones she originally had) onto him in an "attempt" to make him look "cuter". I've since edited and tweaked it after realizing how funky it looked, but I guess there's still some residue from that screw up.
I'll see what I can do. I'm mostly just worried that if that young link looks odd, then the other sprites might look off as well.

    7. No problem, i am trying to help. At least more-so than the other /v/ thread that talked about it at least.

I would say that the only other noticeable thing that may look odd to me and isn't just nitpicking, is Navi's torso may be a bit too elongated (It could just be me). But other than that, him looking ugly doesn't essentially hinder the other sprites. (Unless you mean the Link ones you've already done, or the hentai scenes). Though you are right in trying to make him more cute, especially if there's any form of yaoi or even the straight scenes will suffer if his face is kind of there, scaring people's boners away.

You are a talented artist though, and taking critique well is a good sign. Good luck on your endeavor, i hope you're able to fix it. On the pro side, it could just be my opinion entirely, and i could be wrong. But i figured it was worth pointing out.

    8. Haha, I appreciate you not calling it a "horrid abomination" that's for sure. While I always ask for criticism from the team, and they don't have an issue with the current Link (/f/dude included). You, the people in that thread, and apparently one of /f/dude's friends can't all be wrong.

I think I see what you mean about Navi being elongated. I can tweak that.
We haven't started the scenes yet, because we've got our hands full with other things, but I'm hoping I don't replicate young link's failures even if I'm not totally sure what they are at the moment.
I drew this some time ago, and while I recognize it has a few issues here and there I'm fairly proud of it. I'm hoping that the more full fledged scenes will match or exceed this - http://pictures.hentai-foundry.com/e/erohen/141519.jpg

Also, here's a sprite that I'm relatively happy with. Does it look odd?

Sorry to keep you talking, its just nice to get some second opinions from someone I know isn't too worried about offending me.

    9. Nah it's not a "horrid abomination", it's just flawed. Well that's unfortunately the problem with friends or people that respect you/work with you. If they put your feelings first above honesty, you'll never get it. The truth hurts and all of that, but honestly i think that "constructive" criticism isn't meant to be "offensive" or even be "hurtful", there's no way in hell you can fix a mistake that you yourself can't see if no one brings it to light, so it does more damage by NOT saying anything than if you were. Though unfortunately something you work hard on can make someone touchy when faults are brought up, that's entirely understandable.

Yeah definitely understandable, i assume there's a lot in the process besides just hentai scenes, despite that being the definitive point to play the game. That is good, there are few flaws i can see, i think you should be proud of this, you did good definitely. With more drawing (and being careful not to fall into stagnation because of comfort zones), you'll exceed things like this in no time.

Yes i actually really like this. While i myself am not that big on monster girls, i do like how you were able to pull this off. This one and the Deku girl are probably your best sprites.

Well this is me trying to put everything lightly as possible without going overboard with that "touchy feely" walking on eggshells bullshit. I think it's important to be respectful (Or at least somewhat respectful) when trying to critique. It's kind of counter productive to bash someone while trying to help them.

But i hope some of my comments helped. Despite maybe being a bit opinionated and overbearing.

    10. Also i forgot to add "At first glance without staring and trying to find mistakes, the right eye is noticeably i think too small in comparison to the left on the skulltula girl, despite the perspective because of the head being tilted/turned ever so slightly."

    11. Well, none of them are the type to hold things back. They'll point out issues that they see and I do trust them to give it to me straight. Its just so far everyone kind of has different opinions on different things.

Like you think the deku girl is one of my best, but our programmer, who usually just goes "Oh!" or "So good!", initially really disliked that sprite and went as far as to get someone else to critique it. Another example is that Fi image I just showed you. That got me a good deal of praise and help on /ic/. Or the sketch and lineart did anyway. They never saw the final image because I was so slow with it. However, recently a member on our team felt it needed work (along with a few other older images of mine).

Despite the mixed messages, I understand the value of a critique. Considering how little I actually draw I wouldn't be where I am without them. Plus it makes being genuinely praised for my efforts that much better.

I think you're right about the eyes there. It might also be that the left eye is a touch too big.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to talk to me about these things. I really appreciate it.

    12. No problem at all. Good luck to you and I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your art.

  2. This is really a big surprise. What is /f/dude going to be doing exactly? Animations? Or maybe the Yaoi scenes?

    1. He'll be doing animations for some of the scenes. If he's up for it we may be incorporating a passage inspired route as well.
We haven't discussed yaoi with him yet, but if he agrees, we'll still need an artist who'll be drawing a good chunk of them.

  3. how are animations going to come into play here only special scenes get animations? i see hes mentioned for the yaoi scenes is that something he'll be taking over with another artist if he agrees to it?

  4. We're still figuring out how this will work, but what he animates should be up to him. Its unlikely there will be a system to it. You may get a CG, or you may get an animation.
We'll still need another artist to work on the yaoi scenes, but if /f/dude is up to it, he may also create some yaoi animations.
Nothing is set in stone yet.

  5. Does this mean /f/dude is quitting/giving up on his Hentai Quest project? Will he be using assets made by other artists working on the project when making the animations, or will he be drawing and animating his own stuff?

This is really cool though... instead of two great projects, we get one fantastic project!

    1. I can't say anything regarding Hentai Quest. What he does with that project is entirely up to him. What I do know is that he's said he's happy to join us and that he's devoted to making a hentai zelda game.
Art wise, we may collaborate with him on the animations if he's up for it, or he may prefer to do it himself.

Just know that nothing is set in stone right now. He is currently a part of the team, but we are still trying to figure a few things out. We're working with renpy, which is fairly limited when it comes to animations. How we should best incorporate his flash animations is something we're currently working out.
