This is an early F.A.Q. that we will update as we progress. It doesn't cover everything and may change depending on the ZVN's development.
"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS AND WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GAME?"
The game has been on hiatus for a little over a year, however Khrom, which is me, is still lurking around. I hope that someday in the future the project will come back to life, and with it's original members. At this point, nothing is certain, I am just speculating out of my ass.
"This blog is bullshit and it's all fake, you guys are faggots."
We can assure you it's real and we are serious about this. Do you honestly believe we would create an entire blog filled with pages of information and make fake screenshots just as a joke?
"So if this is a real project, when can I expect you to update?"
For now we don't have any specific time set aside for updating the blog, we do it randomly. As the project ramps up and we get more recruits and viewers we will likely have set days/times that you can expect an update. We will also try to include polls and such that the viewers can take part in.
"Will you release a demo, and if so, when?"
We do not have a specific time frame in mind, but we will upload a demo at some point. It will most likely consist of a portion of the Kokiri Forest, along with the Great Deku Tree Dungeon.
"What is this game really about?"
Refer to "About ZVN" page for a short summary of the game. If you still have questions, skim through the rest of this F.A.Q. or feel free to ask them there.
"Will there be adult content?"
Absolutely.
"Why is the Deku Scrub a girl?"
"Will all Deku Scrubs be girls?"
No, there will be both normal and female variations for most monsters, but all bosses and mini-bosses will be monster girls.
"Good luck with Gohma"
Appreciate it
"What do you mean by "one of the many partners that can join you" under Saria?"
Our plan is to implement a multitude of girls / heroines from across the Zelda Universe to join and aid Link during his adventure. More specifically, fight with him and bring their unique skills to the table in order to overcome obstacles.
"But the Zelda Universe takes place in different timelines, how would it make sense?"
It might or it might not. Obviously, this game is not canon, not everything may make sense. What matters is we're going to try to stay as close to the canon lore as we can, more specifically OoT. So don't worry, you won't randomly encounter Midna in the game without a proper scene and explanation.
"Why would you want to bring someone like Saria into a fight? Wouldn't she just get in the way?"
Yes, she might. The main purpose of bringing a partner along with you is to raise their affection level. During that time you may be tasked with keeping them safe on your travels. Some heroines may be much more useful in battles than others, but if you wish to pursue a certain girl, you will need to take them with you regardless of their combat ability.
"So if I bring along Sheik I'll have double the combat capabilities, but if I bring along Ruto I'll have much tougher fights?"
Correct.
"What happens if I lose to a normal monster?"
What happens after losing
a battle with a normal monster depends on a few things. Most likely you will just get you a normal game over, however some monsters take interest in certain partners. If a monster you're fighting starts going after your partner and if you lose that monster at the same time, a special scene between that monster and the partner you have will occur.
Also, a few monsters may steal a small amount of items or rupees.
"What happens if I lose to a monster girl?"
Monster girls have two states, passive and aggressive. If you lose to a monster girl while they're aggressive, they will go down on Link against his will and a scene will occur, otherwise, you will net a normal game over.
Either way, Link will ultimately receive a game over, recover his health and not lose progress. However, a select few monster girls may steal a small amount of items or rupees from you.
"What happens if I get a Game Over?"
You will start back up in the same room as if the fight never occurred. Your partner's affection will not take a hit and Link's health will be at the same level as it was before the fight. However, you will always lose a small percentage of rupees.
(Revised the above three Q&A's thanks to an email containing some concerns over punishment and Game Overs)
"What are the advantages/disadvantages of fleeing or getting a Game Over?"
This mostly depends on how you want to play through the VN. Fleeing is more for those who might not want to experience the scenes that go along with a Game Over, they can't afford to lose the rupees, or they want more of a challenge. Game Overs are more for the people who are in it for the hentai and are willing to lose a few rupees to see it.
Fleeing could also be considered harder as you will only recover a limited amount of health. As such there may be a reward for players who take the more difficult route and don't receive any Game Overs.
"Will my partners care if I initiate sex with monster girls?"
Most will, yes. Though, a select few will not mind Link forcing down a monster girl. It is recommended you find and take certain partners along with you if you want to discover and have your way with monster girls (or let them have their way with you) while still following along with a partner's route. If you don't care about partners, nothing is stopping you.
"Will the partner's that do care stop accompanying you if you have sex with monster girls?"
Yes, should their affection fall low enough, they will refuse to go along with you. Most partners will have a large drop in affection should you initiate sex with girls right in front of them. Some will be more understanding and willing to put up with Link longer than others, but eventually it will add up. For some girls, Link initiating sex with a monster girl once is enough to make them dislike you. It is recommended you only initiate sex with a monster girl if you do not care about pursuing a partner or if you have a partner who is fine with it.
"Does that mean you may end up without a partner at some point?"
No. No matter how bad things get, Navi will always force herself to put up with you. Should you disappoint a partner enough times (via choices you make during their routes and/or sleeping around), they will leave and Navi will approach you.
"So that means I could lose to every monster on purpose, just so they attack Navi?"
Yes. Theoretically, you could do this with any partner as they do not lose affection via Game Over. However, take note that if you do this, your wallet will be the one to take a hit.
"Will routes have different endings?"
We haven't thought that far ahead at this time, however it is very likely. Despite being a VN that focuses heavily on monster girls, we also really want to emphasize the partners, keep them true to their character and allow for a "purer" romance with them. As such, if there are multiple endings, they will likely be determined based on affection level as well as choices that you've made throughout the game.
"How can I contact you for questions or apply to take part in development?"
You can contact us via this blog, email, or our steam group.
why did link sign up for this if he has no idea what he signed up for?
